PDA to assume role of a big brother
Karach: The new look Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) - Central Council has already started to make a difference by bringing the dental professionals closer to create a well coordinated, service-oriented fraternity.
As a first-step, the newly elected office bearers took the initiative of playing a pivotal role in making the Golden-Jubilee celebrations of Liaquat University of Medicine and Health Sciences a memorable event, by ensuring enthusiastic participation from several cities.
Recently, the PDA also extended noteworthy support to the Pakistan Prothodontics Association by making arrangements for International and local speakers and experts, participating in the event. The Central Council is now actively supporting the 2nd Biennial National Dental symposium being conducted by Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad, scheduled to be held on 7th and 8th of March, 2014. Similar support is being extended to a forthcoming insightful symposium at Faisalabad too.
It is heartening to note this change, where the PDA Central Council is helping numerous other associations & dental bodies, by complementing their efforts, by truly assuming the supportive role of a big brother for all segments of the dental fraternity.
PDA to hold international conference in October
Karachi: The President and office bearers of the Pakistan Dental Association Central Council has recently announced the holding of a Dental Conference in Karachi. The event is being planned for the month of October.
The conference will prove to be a prestigious and insightful annual dental event for the Pakistani Dental fraternity. It will also engage numerous internationally renowned practitioners. The conference is being designed to provide an interactive platform for valuable learning, which will provide updated knowledge, networking opportunities while facilitating viable business partnerships.
The PDA central council aspires to enrich this conference with a very comprehensive scientific program highlighting the latest topics and clinical cases in the field of dentistry. Several Continuing Dental Programmes will also be hosted with special emphasis on scientific information and promoting advanced dental solutions.
PDA Membership Drive
Karachi: The Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) President and office bearers are in the process of formulating a committee to oversee the upcoming membership drive, which is aimed at inspiring dental professionals to join the vibrant association through a formal process of registration.
The committee to be formed will make efforts to incorporate new valuable features and facilities for the existing and new PDA member dentists. A detailed formal announcement in this regard is expected soon.
To make this initiative more attractive; the PDA plans to offer the following facilities to its members:
- A discount of 10% will be available to the PDA member dentists, while making any purchases from the suppliers working under the umbrella of “Dental Trade Manufacturers Association” (DTMA).
- Specially discounted packages will be offered to the members, for attending numerous local and international dental conferences and programmes.
- The Members will be able to get special offers for participating in various Continuing Dental Education Programmes across Pakistan.
- PDA is working towards developing similar other incentives and packages, in collaboration with other associations, bodies and communities.

Karachi: The newly elected PDA Central Council has appointed Dr. Kaifi Iqbal as the Head of a committee which has been assigned the task of developing a comprehensive Dental Act for streamlining and enriching the Dental services and profession in Pakistan.
This committee under the able leadership of Dr. Kaifi Iqbal has already started meaningful deliberations for proposing a Dental Act that will regulate all dental professionals in the country, while registering all qualified dentists and other dental care professionals such as: dental hygienists, dental therapists, dental nurses, and dental technicians. The legislation will also emphasize on the protection of the general public from quackery, while promoting confidence in dental professionals and lead the nation towards a safe and effective dental health system.
This will ensure that a proper quality of care is given to each patient, with a mechanism for promptly resolving inadequacies and complaints. It will also act as a bridge of communication between the government, the public and the dental professionals.
Pakistani Delegation for FDI Congress 2014 in India
Karachi: The Pakistan Dental Association Central Council is making efforts to coordinate and facilitate a large delegation of Pakistani Dentists, to attend the FDI Annual Dental Congress 2014, proposed to be held in India, from 11th to 14th of September, 2014.
The Indian Dental Association will be hosting the FDI Annual World Dental Congress 2014 in Greater Noida, NCR New Delhi, India. Having an international outreach, it will be a unique event in the 2014 dental calendar as a global audience of more than 10,000 visitors are expected to attend.
A cutting-edge scientific programme designed in tune with FDI’s social responsibility of “leading the world to optimal oral health”, will satisfy the curiosity of the participants by dwelling on subjects that are of growing importance to the profession.
